US-South Korea Consortium Mass-Produces Hybrid Capacitive Touch Solution for Smart Cockpits
In mid-April 2026, American sensor developer UltraSense Systems partnered with South Korean auto component giant Mobase Electronics to announce mass production of an innovative hybrid capacitive touch system for global electric vehicles. The solution combines standard capacitive touch sensing, MEMS pressure sensors and haptic feedback to eliminate common flaws of single-function capacitive touch screens.
Conventional capacitive touch panels rely on human static electricity to register inputs, which frequently trigger accidental taps during high-speed driving, or fail to work when users wear gloves or touch damp screens. The hybrid system adopts dual identification logic: light touches only scroll interfaces, while intentional firm presses activate core functions. This design cuts accidental operations and reduces driver distraction, greatly improving driving safety. All-in-one borderless touch panels replace physical buttons to create minimalist integrated cockpit aesthetics.
The entire capacitive touch module has passed the 2026 Euro NCAP human-machine interaction certification and fits curved central screens, hidden touch strips and seat control panels. The two companies secured bulk orders from mainstream EV manufacturers across Europe and North America, with an annual shipment target of over 800,000 vehicle sets for 2026. Analysts commented that the consumer and automotive touch industry is shifting from simple capacitive touch to multi-sensor hybrid touch modules, which will become the core competitive product of touch screen manufacturers in the next three years.
