In early 2026, Microchip rolled out its upgraded maXTouch M1 series capacitive touch ICs tailored for modern electric vehicles, catering to curved, ultra-wide and free-form car screens ranging from 2 to 42 inches. The new ATMXT3072M1-HC chip adopts optimized mutual capacitance sensing algorithms, lifting touch signal-to-noise ratio by 15 dB versus older versions. It works steadily with OLED and microLED panels, resisting interference from high display loads and supporting gloved, wet-hand operation in extreme temperatures. Industry analysts point out that automotive PCAP touch screens become a major growth engine this year. More than 80% of new EVs adopt integrated capacitive touch cockpits. The new controllers meet strict auto safety standards and simplify screen design, helping automakers cut interior display thickness and lower assembly costs amid surging global demand for smart vehicle interactive systems.
