Domestic Capacitive Touch Screen Industry Hits Strong Growth, Vehicle Panels Become Main Growth Engine
May 29, 2026, Hangzhou – The domestic capacitive touch screen sector has maintained double-digit growth throughout 2026, with new energy vehicle large-size touch modules standing out as the core driving force of the whole industry.
Industry research data shows that the global capacitive touch market scale is projected to reach 9.158 billion US dollars this year. The Asia-Pacific region contributes 38 percent of global production capacity, while Chinese mainland serves as the world's primary manufacturing hub. Domestic shipment area of capacitive touch screens is expected to hit 287 million square meters, representing a year-on-year rise of 12.1 percent. Most remarkably, shipments of automotive-grade capacitive touch panels surge by 27.4 percent year over year, fueled by widespread adoption of 15-inch and larger curved and integrated screens in new energy passenger vehicles.
Leading Chinese manufacturers including OFILM and Lens Technology are ramping up production lines for automotive large-size touch screens and foldable touch modules, supplying major domestic automakers such as BYD and Huawei Auto steadily. Meanwhile, small and medium-sized touch factories are shifting their focus to industrial and medical high-reliability touch products to avoid fierce competition in the smartphone market.
The domestic industry still faces bottlenecks in high-end supporting materials. The self-sufficiency rate of premium optical clear adhesive (OCA) and flexible conductive materials stays below 30 percent. Therefore, local enterprises are pouring more investment into research and development of silver nanowire touch technology and integrated In-Cell touch solutions to accelerate domestic substitution of key materials. New national standards for automotive touch screens have also been released, mandating strict wide-temperature-range and anti-interference performance tests for vehicle touch panels.
