Mobile phone manufacturers face a big challenge ahead. They must find ways to ensure the practicability of the flexible screen, rather than just being able to bend this bright spot. The naked-eye 3D screen on mobile phones and tablets has been hailed as cool and futuristic, but ultimately consumers find that 4.3-inch 3D screens are of little use. Samsung's Youm screen is light and more durable than an unbendable OELD screen. It's also very early, it's just a secondary feature.
Being able to bend and move the screen itself does not bring intrinsic appeal; in addition to being light and durable, manufacturers have to think of other ways to make flexible screens both enticing and practical. Nokia's prototype of the somatosensory control device provides a noteworthy idea that allows the world to understand how flexible screens can be used, but it seems to be a bit unrealistic. Vendors have to consider the amount of wear and tear that this device has to endure. The screen bends thousands of times and can cause serious damage to its components.
