Screens that can be bent and moved have a number of potential advantages. Youm screens are expected to be lighter and thinner because they use fewer layers than the LCD and OLED screens we see on current mobile phones and tablets. The LCD screen usually has six layers, two of which are glass; the OLED panel has four layers, two of which are glass panels.
In addition, flexible screens may be more durable than today's mobile and tablet screens because they do not use glass. Samsung claims that its screen is "unbreakable", but unless PCWorld magazine has the opportunity to test the screen in an internal lab, I am skeptical about this statement.
Another potential use for flexible screens is that manufacturers can design "wearable" products. For example, the Nokia Morph concept device is a wearable watch/phone hybrid made of fibrin – fibrin can be woven into a three-dimensional mesh, so the entire phone (including the screen) can be moved and bending.
