In the recent period, Microsoft has made a lot of actions on the interconnection between PCs and mobile phones. First, Windows 10 can use the application "Your Phone (your phone)" to directly open the APP on the Android device. Now the whistleblower discovered a new Microsoft patent.
This new patent is about how to make a notebook computer that is not equipped with a touch screen can use the touch function. To put it simply, it allows laptops that are not equipped with a touch screen to operate like a touch screen.
The patent is named "USING AN ALTERNATE INPUT DEVICE AS A MANEUVERABLE EMULATED TOUCH SCREEN DEVICE". The reason for this patent is that some Android apps do not support mouse and keyboard operations, so there will be adaptation problems when used on the PC side.
The emergence of this patent is precisely to solve this problem. The solution proposed by the patent is to enter a special mode, in which the touchpad of the notebook computer will be simulated as a touch screen, and you can operate like a mobile phone screen to operate the touchpad in the same way to achieve the goal of smoothly using the Android APP. Of course, after entering this mode, the computer's cursor cannot be used, which means you can only control one item at a time, such as Android APP or computer.
Microsoft pointed out that the touchpad is usually much smaller than the screen. Their solution is to specify a movable input area, the user can swipe with two fingers to locate, and then move the input area to where you want to touch input.
However, this method is very cumbersome and inconvenient for users who need to switch between APP and computer frequently. And the biggest problem is that using a touchpad instead of a touch screen is very unintuitive, and it is difficult for beginners to find an anchor point. However, since this is only an initial solution, at least users can use some computers that cannot support keyboard and mouse control. In the future, I believe that Microsoft will also provide more user-friendly and convenient operation solutions.
