For many industrial customers, it has been confusing them that whether to choose a resistive touch screen or a capacitive touch screen for their end products? ko, so what is the difference?
1. Touch sensitivity
① Resistance touch screen: pressure is required to make each layer of the screen come into contact, and fingers (even with gloves), fingernails, stylus, etc. can be used for operation.
② Capacitive touch screen: the smallest contact from the surface of the charged finger can also activate the capacitive sensing system below the screen. Industrial PCAP with cypress touch controller ic can
support operation with gloves, water , and thick tempered glass or PC on top of the cover glass, and has excellent anti-interference performance.2. Accuracy
① Resistance touch screen: the accuracy shall reach at least a single display pixel, which can be seen with a stylus. It is convenient for handwriting recognition and helps to operate in the interface using small control elements.
② Capacitive touch screen: the theoretical accuracy can reach a few pixels, but it is actually limited by the finger contact area. So that it is difficult for the user to accurately click on a target smaller than 1 cm2.But, the capacitive touch screen supports the capacitive stylus.
3. Point touch feasibility
① Resistance touch screen: the resistance screen only supports single touch, that is, it can only recognize and support the touch and click of one finger at a time. If more than two points are touched at the same time, it cannot make correct response.
② Capacitive touch screen: the multi-point touch technology supported by the capacitive screen can greatly facilitate the operation in the actual use process, and it is sensitive and resistant to damage, which is more suitable for entertainment and games. Such as zooming in and out when browsing pictures and zooming in and out when browsing web pages, users can also make a single touch with both hands, or touch the screen with different gestures such as clicking, double clicking, panning, pressing, scrolling and rotating, so as to achieve arbitrary manipulation, so as to better and more comprehensively understand the relevant characteristics of objects (text, video, pictures, satellite images, three-dimensional simulation and other information).
4. Damage resistance
① Resistance touch screen: the fundamental characteristic of resistance screen determines that its top is soft and needs to be able to press down. This makes the screen very easy to scratch. Resistance screens require protective films and relatively frequent calibration. The advantage is that the resistance touch screen equipment using the plastic layer is generally less vulnerable and less likely to be broken.
② Capacitor touch screen: glass can be used as the outer layer. Although this is not indestructible and may break under severe impact, the glass is better able to cope with daily rubbing and stains.
5. Clean
① Resistance screen: because you can operate with a stylus or fingernail, it is more difficult to leave fingerprints, oil stains and bacteria on the screen.
② Capacitive screen: touch with your whole finger, but the outer layer of glass is easier to clean. And we can perform AF treatment on the capacitive touch screen surface (AF processing is adding on the cover glass a king of coating that could increases surface smoothness, reduces surface sliding resistance , residual water and fingerprints on the surface significantly and improves feeling and clarity.)
6. Visual effect in sunlight
① Resistive touch screen: the screen level will reflect a lot of sunlight.
② Capacitive touch screen: still very good. And we can perform AG / AR treatment on the surface of the capacitive touch screen.(Anti Glare (AG) processing could eliminate screen surface mirror problem through converting direct light to diffuse light on the touch screen.AR processing means adding a type of coating that could reduce reflected light on the cover glass, which dereases screen reflection and increases visual effects significantly in the sun.)
