Resistive Touch Type (MTR Series/AST Series)
The basic structure is the same as the resistive single touch type.
It is a two-layer structure, two materials(film or glass)with ITO are attached with a gap between them
so that the ITO Layers are facing each other.
Touch input will be made as the top layer is pressed down and two ITO layers contact.
There are insulators called spacing dots between the top and bottom ITO Layers.
These spacing dots prevent unintended contacts (inputs)of the ITO layers when not pressed.
Projected Capacitive Touch Type (DUS Series)
X-electrodes are coated on one glass plate while Y-electrodes are coated on the other glass plate.
The electrodes on the two glass glass plates are facing each other.
Because the human body is conductive, when a finger comes close close to the electrodes’ capacitive coupling will
occur between the finger and electrodes.
The capacitance value will be higher at the touched point where the capacitive coupling occurred.
The touch screen detects a touched point by recognizing the point of high capacitance value.
