Is the HMI a touch screen

In the industrial field, we often refer to the human-machine interface product with touch input function as 'touch screen'.

HMI is used to connect industrial control devices such as programmable controller (plc), inverter, DC converter, instrument, etc. The display shows that digital devices that interact with human and mechanical information by writing working parameters or inputting operation commands through input units (such as touch screen, keyboard, mouse, etc.)

So, is the HMI a touch screen?

In fact, in the strict sense, the two are essentially different. Because the "touch screen" is only the hardware part that may be used in the human-machine interface product, the eleventh replaces the mouse, the keyboard part function, the input device installed at the front end of the display screen, and the human-machine interface is a half-inch hardware and software. The human-computer interaction device has two parts: hardware and software.
